Music from Body & Soul
A recording from Kings' Steve Johnson & Steve Miller
The Body & Soul project consisted of Steve Miller on bass, Robin Jung on violin, John Corak on piano, and myself on guitar. It came together through a love of American Roots music and a desire to put grit, rich vocal harmony, and colorful instrumentation into our performances. In addition to covers of Etta James, Dan Hicks, Mose Allison and Duke Ellington, I wrote many original tunes for the album.
Steve Miller contributed the song "Walking Man" and was responsible for most of the musical arrangements. Robin Jung provided beautiful violin and vocal work, as well as penning "The Key." John Corak's subtle and creative piano style laid the foundation for much of our effort, and we also got help from a number of great local musicians. The CD was recorded and produced in Annapolis, Maryland.
Several tunes you'll hear at the Kings' live performances are found in their original incarnations on this CD, "Road to Baltimore," "Dancing at the Belvedere," and "Rise Up" among them. You can purchase the CD by visiting the links to the right. In addition, individual tunes can be purchased through iTunes.
If you like the Kings of Crownsville, I'm quite certain you will enjoy this recording.
